About Iaomai Academy

Iaomai Academy is a learning and enrichment center that celebrates individual learning styles and supports the growth of high-achieving, motivated, and independent learners in grades K–8 (ages 5–14). Our two-day core academics program serves students in grades K-8, providing personalized instruction in reading, writing, and math. For students in grades 4-8, we also offer two-day enrichment courses focused on history, art, and creative exploration. Designed as a part-time supplement for homeschooling families and those departing from traditional schools, our flexible structure allows students to engage academically while maintaining time for personal interests and family life. Iaomai Academy operates as a drop-in child day center with minimal oversight from the Department of Education.

Our core values are rooted in Iaomai (pronounced ee-ah'-om-ahee), a biblical concept of healing that means to restore or bring one back from the darkness. At Iaomai, we believe every child deserves to be seen, heard, and accepted. Students engage in self-paced learning that meets them where they are - offering space to rebuild confidence, fill learning gaps, or advance beyond grade-level expectations. We are especially suited for twice-exceptional learners who may not thrive in rigid academic environments but are ready to grow in a setting that values both achievement and emotional well-being.

How Iaomai Academy Helps Homeschooling Families

Iaomai Academy offers the structure, community, and guidance many homeschooling families seek - while preserving the flexibility they value. Parents maintain ownership of their child’s education while gaining access to:

  • Personalized academic support tailored to each child’s strengths, needs, and learning style

  • Expert instruction in reading, writing, and math through our core academics program (grades K-8)

  • Small group enrichment courses in history, art, and cultural exploration (grades 4-8)

  • A supportive peer community that encourages collaboration, connection, and social growth

This hybrid model bridges the gap between home education and professional instruction, making it ideal for families seeking meaningful academic partnership without losing the personal touch of homeschooling.

How Iaomai Academy Helps Students from Traditional Schools

Many students arrive at Iaomai Academy feeling overwhelmed, under-challenged, or disconnected in traditional school settings. Our flexible, part-time structure offers a refreshing alternative designed to meet students where they are. We provide:

  • A low-pressure, high-support environment where bright students can rebuild confidence and rediscover the joy of learning

  • Small group settings that foster meaningful relationships and personalized attention

  • Self-paced academics tailored to individual strengths and needs, reducing stress and frustration

  • A lighter weekly schedule that allows time for passions or creative pursuits without sacrificing academic progress

  • A nurturing approach that honors how each student learns and encourages growth in a safe, supportive space

Whether a student is burned out, anxious, or simply needs a different pace and setting to thrive, Iaomai Academy offers a path forward grounded in care, flexibility, and purpose.
